We finally managed a growth spurt this week with a team of 6 making great progress on the walls for the middle floor. However, they worked so fast that they ran out of HD44/23 blocks!
Once again, we were at the mercy of the ports as a consignment of blocks had left Italy the previous week and should have taken 3 days to arrive at the beginning of the week. Unfortunately, the driver had a flat tyre and, with customs delays, took over a week to do the trip. He finally arrived at 10am on Friday but still managed a big smile when he came around the corner.
We are using 254mm posi-joists for the majority of the floors. These are set at 400mm centres and will be topped off with 22mm tongue and groove flooring so we should be able to avoid any squeaky joints. Not only are they structurally strong but the open web makes it easy to install MVHR pipework and cable runs.
So, at the end of last week, we have lots of blocks on site and part of the bedroom floor walls up; hopefully, these will be completed this week.
