Our electrician, Graham of of local company G T Electric Services Ltd, started the first fix electrical work on Tuesday and will now be on site for about 5 weeks! Graham has worked quickly to pull cables around the house; install cable trays and start to chase in the sockets and wiring on the top floor.
Meanwhile, we have been busy laying screed on the front and rear balconies to form a fall prior to installing the vapour protection layer and the insulation. Having researched all of the options, we have decided that a 30mm to 0mm fall using screed is the only viable option if we are to leave sufficient space for insulation and the waterproofing layer, as explained last week. 41 x 20kg bags of 3-50mm screed later, we have almost got there; just a few more to get the levels right and we are ready to apply the VPL. The good news is that the balconies are finally watertight as the screed has filled in any gaps or voids in the beam and block, which was just as well as we had several heavy downpours this week.
