It has been a frustrating few weeks! Just when we thought that we were up and running again after our local difficulties, the key HB20 (200mm wide) blocks that we needed to complete the basement were stuck in transit from Italy. So after one week on site, the team had to go to other sites while we were awaiting the promised arrival.
We are told that Customs checks added to the delay with a forecast delivery date last Wednesday coming and going without a sign of a truck!
However, they finally arrived at 2pm on Friday afternoon and Dan was left to unload the consignment, finishing at 6pm.
Today, we have had Dan, Harrald and David on site and they are making good progress. We have also received the formwork frames for the windows and doors so we should have enough blocks and frames on site for completion. The basement walls are now 9 blocks high (out of 11 required). Once the steel arrives, the plan is to pour the first 9 courses.
Let’s hope that we can continue to move forward now without further delays.
