The roof joists are in place

Having been full-on last week, we were back to more delays this week!

Despite best efforts to find a replacement, we were unable to get a crane on site until Thursday so there was no work for 3 days, Monday to Thursday, as everything was held up awaiting the placement of the ladder racks on the sides of the roof.  The ladder racks were placed in about 2 hours by Earp Lifting and Sam and Lewis of Insul Hub then set to work on attaching and levelling the racks.  The final Isotex blocks were then cut to fix under the rack and shuttering placed for the final concrete to be inserted (only one cubic metre required this time).

Concrete was ordered for Friday morning; inevitably the supplier delayed that to later and then 3.30pm, which would have been impossible as it would take a couple of houses to place and there was insufficient time before dark.  All reset for Monday morning, fingers crossed …

Amazingly, everything has survived the gales (winds of over 40 knots) this weekend.  Notwithstanding flapping plastic and the Heras fencing being blown over twice, no damage was done which is testament to the work of Sam and Lewis in fixing the joists.

The roof structure should be completed early next week so the roofer can get to work.
